The Aluminium Oxid Stade GmbH (AOS) alumina refinery was built in the Stade-Bützfleth industrial zone between 1970 - 1973. The plant covers an area of 55 hectares (approx. 133 acres), and boasts an outstanding infrastructure. Production started at the end of 1973.

Our commitment to continuous improvement has allowed AOS to increase the nominal production capacity of 600,000 to over 900,000 metric tons of alumina per year by enhancing processes and the infrastructure. These improvements have also significantly reduced emissions.

Aluminium Oxid Stade GmbH is a tolling company, owned by Dadco Alumina & Chemicals. The technology was supplied by the former Vereinigte Aluminium-Werke AG.
